This post is part of a series on ethnographic teaching materials for undergraduate students both within and beyond anthropology. In this series, we offer various resources on introducing ethnographic methods to your students, supporting your TA-s, suggesting further readings on ethnography, and providing guidance on ethics approval when needed.
Ethics Approval Process
Depending on the type of ethnographic research your students will undertake, you might need to obtain an ethics approval from the Ethical Review Board (ERB) in your university. In some cases, you might have an internal/delegated ethics review board in your department which will be responsible for reviewing your ethics documents. While it varies by department, institution, and nature of ethnographic research involved, the documents we share here serve as a template that will help you with your own ethics documents and applications.
