About this Event:
In this discussion, we think about the possibilities and limitations of multispecies ethnography on plantations. In particular, we focus on 2 articles that Sophie Chao published in 2018 and 2021 in which she explores various multispecies solidarities and antagonisms in oil palm’s plantations, while also considering plantation regimes as parasitic systems. This event is open to students, faculty and the broader Ethnography Lab community. The talk will be moderated by the group’s conveners Bradley Dunseith, Ridhima Sharma, and Noha Fikry, and a Zoom recording will be available for whoever is interested.
