The University of Toronto Ethnography Lab is looking to hire a part-time casual co-coordinator to manage communications and administrative affairs starting January 1, 2023. The call is open to ethnographers across all three UofT campuses, with preference given to Anthropology graduate students. The position requires your presence at the Lab on campus, as far as University Policy/Public Health restrictions allow. The expected time commitment is approximately 25 hours per month. Rate of pay is expected to be $31.57 per hour. This position is up to six months with a possible extension.
The Ethnography Lab – Who are we?
The Ethnography Lab promotes ethnographic research methods and practice in the university and outside academia. Arranged in interest groups or clusters, the Ethnography Lab explores the craft and impact of ethnography in the contemporary world.
The Ethnography Lab offers a regular speaker series, acts as a resource centre to the university community, and as a link to the outside world via consulting, community activism, and so on. It also has a strong focus on teaching the practical aspects of ethnographic fieldwork at the undergraduate level across the Faculty of Arts and Science.

Qualifications
The Ethnography Lab co-coordinator role is open to anthropologists and ethnographers at the University of Toronto who have a strong interest in ethnography as a method, a form of writing, and a research perspective. The coordinator should have excellent leadership skills with the capacity to initiate and manage activities that will contribute to the Ethnography Lab’s mission to promote ethnography in academic and public inquiries. Preference will be given to Anthropology graduate students.

Duties & Responsibilities
The Ethnography Lab Co-coordinator will be responsible for:
- Coordinating and managing research and administrative affairs
- Organizing and promoting speaker series, receptions, and other events
- Managing and updating the website, email, and social media
- Establishing and maintaining networks with local, national, and international researchers
- Building links with local community and businesses
- Searching for funding opportunities and writing funding proposals
- Managing budget and finances
- Facilitating integration of various research groups and event programs into the lab
- Purchasing and managing research and office supplies and equipment
